Implant Dental
Treatment & Prices

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots surgically inserted into the jawbone to support replacement teeth, like dentures. Usually constructed from sturdy titanium, implants offer a durable, long-term solution for tooth replacement, often lasting a lifetime without complications. The cost of dental implants may fluctuate based on factors such as the material type, procedural intricacy, and the quantity of implants needed.

Who is eligible for
Dental implants?

For individuals with good overall health, healthy gums, ample jawbone density, and diligent oral hygiene, dental implant treatment often boasts a high success rate. Nonetheless, situations where there’s inadequate bone for implant support may necessitate advanced techniques to establish a robust foundation. Procedures like bone grafting can help augment jawbone density, facilitating successful implant placement. Collaborating closely with your dentist or oral surgeon is crucial to tailor the treatment plan to your individual needs, maximizing the likelihood of a successful implant procedure.

Implant Brands

With over three decades of expertise in implant dentistry, we prioritize the use of renowned implant brands, including ITI Straumann, Medentika by Straumann, Bego Implant, and Osstem Implant. ITI Straumann stands out for its exceptional durability and long-term reliability. Similarly, Medentika By Straumann, crafted with German technology and Straumann assurance, upholds high-quality standards. Bego Implant, another German-made brand, is celebrated for its robustness and durability. Additionally, Osstem Implant, a prominent South Korean brand, has proven its efficacy and is favored by numerous dental clinics and hospitals. We meticulously assess each patient’s unique requirements and preferences to devise a tailored treatment plan, selecting the most suitable implant brand for optimal outcomes.

What are the current prices for implants in 2023?

When assessing implant prices, various factors come into play. The Albanian Dental Association establishes annual implant prices for private clinics, state hospitals, and private hospitals. However, these prices typically exclude material fees like precious metals and zirconium. Due to competition regulations, sharing implant prices online is prohibited. Therefore, obtaining price information and devising a detailed treatment plan requires a clinical examination.

What are the benefits of opting for dental implants to replace missing teeth?

  • Replacing a missing tooth with any other method or leaving it untreated can result in a reduction of bone quantity, leading to alterations in facial structure and an aged appearance.
  • Without replacement, a missing tooth can cause adjacent teeth to drift and opposing teeth to over-erupt.
  • Dental implants facilitate improved bite and chewing function, promoting better nutrition.
  • For a single missing tooth, there’s no need to grind down healthy adjacent teeth, as required for a bridge. Instead, a crown can be placed directly on the implant.
  • Implant-fixed bridges can span longer gaps, providing effective solutions for multiple missing teeth.
  • In cases of total tooth loss, implants stabilize dentures, enhancing comfort for both removable and fixed options.
  • In situations where teeth are missing at the end of a row, a removable partial denture is unnecessary, as a fixed bridge can be created.
  • Dental implants offer long-lasting results, often lasting a lifetime with proper oral hygiene.
  • Implants improve speech, restore a natural smile, and provide aesthetically pleasing results, boosting self-confidence.

Let's break down the steps involved in detail:

  1. Initial Examination and Assessment: A comprehensive oral examination is conducted, assessing the patient’s overall health. Professional cleaning, filling cavities, and treating any infections or inflammation are essential. Panoramic X-rays and, in some cases, 3D CT scans evaluate bone density. If insufficient, bone grafting may be necessary.
  2. Implant Procedure Initiation: If bone quantity is adequate, the implant procedure begins. Typically, if a tooth is removed, the implant can often be placed on the same day, barring any infection.
  3. Implant Insertion: The intervention is performed under local anesthesia or sedation, occasionally under general anesthesia. The gum is lifted from the bone, and the implant is inserted into a prepared socket using a drill.
  4. Gum Suturing: The gum is sutured to cover the implant, and it is left to heal for 3-6 months. During this period, the bone fuses with the implant, ensuring future stability.
  5. Temporary Prosthesis: Temporary prosthesis or existing dentures can be worn during the healing period to avoid being without a replacement.
  6. Stitch Removal: Stitches are typically removed one week later, unless absorbable sutures are used.
  7. Healing Screw Placement: At the end of the healing period, a healing screw may be placed on the implant to shape the gum. Two weeks later, the healing screw is removed, and an abutment post is inserted. An impression is taken and sent to the dental lab for prosthesis fabrication.
  8. Prosthesis Placement: The final step involves placing the prosthesis (crown, bridge, or overdenture) onto the implant.

What can I anticipate following implant surgery?

After implant surgery, it’s typical to experience some post-operative effects and follow specific care instructions:

  1. Medication: You may be prescribed antibiotics for a few days and pain medication if needed.
  2. Swelling and Bruising: Expect some swelling and bruising for a few days following surgery. Applying ice packs can help reduce swelling.
  3. Diet: Stick to a liquid diet initially, avoiding dairy products for a couple of days.
  4. Activity: You can resume normal activities the day after surgery, but full recovery may take 5-10 days.
  5. Long-Term Success: The long-term success of the implant surgery hinges on maintaining proper oral hygiene. Your dentist will provide detailed instructions on how to care for your implants.
  6. Dental Check-ups: Regular dental check-ups, either biannually or annually, are essential for monitoring the health of your implants and overall oral health.

By following these guidelines and staying vigilant about oral hygiene, you can maximize the success of your implant surgery and ensure the longevity of your implants.

Do’s and Don’ts After Implant Treatment

To ensure a smooth recovery after your surgery, please follow these recommendations:

  • Refrain from eating or drinking anything for the first 2 hours post-operation.
  • Avoid consuming hot drinks for the initial 24 hours.
  • Stick to soft, cold foods like puree, dairy products, and ice cream during this time.
  • Steer clear of hot foods and drinks for the first week.
  • Apply gentle pressure with a soft, sterile tampon to help clotting and stop bleeding.
  • Expect to see blood in saliva for the first 24 hours post-operation; this is normal.
  • Avoid spitting or rinsing your mouth for the first 24 hours to allow the wound area to heal.
  • Contact us immediately if bleeding persists after the first day or if you experience any unusual symptoms.
  • Refrain from brushing your teeth or using mouthwash on the evening of the operation.
  • After 36 hours, gargle your mouth with mouthwash or salt water twice daily for 2 weeks.
  • Avoid smoking or drinking alcohol for the first 24 hours and until the operation area is fully healed.
  • Take antibiotics or painkillers as prescribed by your dentist.
  • If bleeding occurs in the operation area in the following days, apply pressure with a sterile tampon or wet tea bag.
  • Expect swelling or bruising in the operation area during the first 2-3 days, which typically subsides within a week. Apply ice to the area for 5 minutes at a time during the first day to help reduce swelling.
  • Depending on the type of stitches used, they may dissolve on their own within 2 weeks or require removal by your dentist after 5-7 days.
  • Avoid brushing the stitched area for the first week to prevent irritation or damage.
  • Contact us if you have any concerns or experience any problems post-operation.
  • Use cold applications for the first 24 hours and ensure stitches are removed after 7 days. Gargle twice daily for one minute for two weeks following the operation.
